On 24th February a grim milestone is reached - one year since the start of the terrible invasion of Ukraine. And as the war still rages on, the horror civilians are having to face is still going on too. Yet news weariness, miss-truth, indifference, and Russian denials of the real impact of this criminal invasion continue.
One of the biggest weapons of war will always be The Truth. So, to mark the one year of the terror, a collective of Ukrainian organisations have united to launch The Undeniable Street View. We invite you to walk the streets and neighbourhoods of Kyiv, Irpin, Kharkiv, Izyum, Chernihiv and Sumy — 6 Ukrainian cities that have found themselves on the front line of an illegal invasion.
Come see for yourself the scale and undeniable truth of a crime that has and is still being inflicted on the people of Ukraine by Russia - including the targeting of civilian infrastructure. A special feature in a selection of these cities dioallows you to toggle between what these places used to look like before the invasion, and what they look like now.
This website is for anyone around the world to come see for themselves the undeniable truth of a crime that has and is still being inflicted on the people of Ukraine by Russia. Through Street View, you can walk the neighbourhoods of 6 Ukrainian cities that have found themselves on the front line of an illegal invasion. This site becomes a document of Russia’s crime in Ukraine and is therefore an invitation for you and anyone to come be a witness to what is happening.
The Undeniable Street View is in partnership with and in support of UNITED24 (The Initiative of the President of Ukraine) — who want to raise awareness specifically about their efforts to rebuild the country in the face of destruction, showcased in this interactive experience. Also, VOICES OF CHILDREN who provide long-term psychological support to children affected by war, as well as helping children and families directly in evacuating from the war zone. Other partners include NOVA UKRAINE, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing emergency relief humanitarian and medical aid to the people of Ukraine and VOSTOK SOS who has been helping evacuate people from the front-line, including people with reduced mobility and delivering humanitarian aid to those in need.
These organisations are in their own way, repairing the damage inflicted by this war and this initiative aims to spread awareness and fundraising for these organisations, who are making a real difference on the ground. Please visit the page ABOUT THE PARTNERS to learn more about them and support them.
The Undeniable Street View is powered by WAR UP CLOSE, a collective of Ukrainian Street View, drone and street photography experts in Ukraine led by Mykola Omelchenko. They are making it their mission to record the destruction metered out by Russian forces across Ukraine — fighting the war with truth. Their large and impressive body of work documenting the Russian crime in Ukraine can be seen on their website. People can also visit a variety of WAR UP CLOSE exhibitions around the world in Washington (22nd February), Berlin (27th February), Warsaw (2nd March), Brussels (tbd) and Paris (tbd).
